LBJ Library Open House & Ribbon Cutting—and JEOPARDY!

This is a big week for the LBJ Library!  On Wednesday 12/19 (3 p.m. EST), LBJ Library director Mark Updegrove will be interviewed on MSNBC’s The Cycle about the redesign and LBJ’s legacy. He’ll be speaking from the UT satellite facility.

On Thursday, 12/20 (8-9 p.m. EST) Lynda Johnson Robb and Luci Baines Johnson will be featured on NBC in “A White House Christmas: First Families Remember.”An encore presentation will air on Friday, December 21 (9-10 p.m. EST).

On Friday 12/21, the LBj Library will be a featured category on JEOPARDY! Tune in to KXAN at 4:30 to test your knowledge of the 36th President. Read more about it here.

Then join us on Saturday 12/22 for a FREE grand opening celebration of our brand new films and exhibits. The open house will begin at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at 10. We’ll feature special activities throughout the day, including:

  • a special greeting from Luci Baines Johnson and Lynda Robb Johnson
  • live music by Sid Fly, Austin Children’s Choir, and River City Pops
  • a Post Office “pictorial cancellation” event
  • giveaways for visitors of all ages
  • book signings by Mike Gillette, Harry Middleton, Mark Updegrove and Louann Temple
  • birthday cake in honor of  Mrs. Johnson’s Centennial

You can finish up your holiday shopping at The Store at LBJ, where the new USPS Lady Bird postage stamps will be available. The Library and store will close at 5 p.m.
